Sera

Privacy

A quiet place for what hurts.

What you share with Sera stays close to you. Your chats, check-ins, and reflections are designed to live on your device, not on our servers.

Last updated May 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Sera collects, how Sera collects it, how Sera uses it, when information is shared with service providers, and how Sera protects it when you use the Sera app and website.

What Sera is

Sera is an AI breakup coach that helps with no-contact urges, heartbreak, daily check-ins, and relationship recovery. Sera is not a medical device, therapist, crisis line, or emergency service.

Information you provide

Depending on how you use Sera, you may provide:

How Sera collects information

Sera collects information when you type it into onboarding, chats, check-ins, reflections, settings, support messages, or other app fields. Sera also collects information when you select options in the app, such as feelings, risk triggers, notification preferences, or account and privacy settings. Sera may create short summaries from information you choose to save so replies can stay contextual.

Information stored on your device

Your profile, chat history, feedback, check-ins, and Sera's memory are designed to live on your device. If you delete the app or delete your data in the app, Sera may no longer have that local history.

Information sent for AI replies

Sera asks for your permission in the app before sending personal data to Google Gemini for AI replies or safety checks. If you allow AI data sharing, Sera may send your onboarding answers, current chat message, recent chat context, and a short profile or personalization summary through Sera's Cloudflare proxy to Google Gemini so Sera can generate contextual replies. A short safety classifier may also send message text to Google Gemini to decide whether to show crisis resources. We do not design Sera to store your full saved chat history on our own servers.

Subscriptions and purchases

Purchases are handled by the App Store and our subscription service provider. We may receive information such as your entitlement status, renewal status, product purchased, and a non-personal app user identifier. We do not receive your full payment card number.

Device permissions

Sera may ask for permission to:

You can change these permissions in your device settings.

Website information

This website may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and timestamps through our hosting provider. We use this to keep the website secure and working.

How we use information

Service providers

We use service providers for hosting, AI responses, subscription management, app distribution, notifications, and support. This includes Cloudflare for proxy hosting, Google Gemini for AI responses and safety classification, Apple and RevenueCat for subscriptions, and Expo services for app delivery. They process information only as needed to provide those services to us and to you. We require service providers that process your personal data for Sera to provide the same or equal protection for that data as described in this Privacy Policy.

Your choices

Children

Sera is not made for children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and respond.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No internet or device storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as Sera changes. The updated version will be posted here with a new last updated date.
